Twitter is fast becoming one of the best list building tools out there, and with this, it is one of the best and easiest ways to get a list together so you can build relationships, trust, and sell things more effectively.

Here are some quick tips to help you get up to speed with twitter:

Get an account - sign up, and use your name if it is available…people love to connect with people.

Customize your profile…put a unique background on your twitter page, and add some info so people will think you are a real person.

Follow people you find interesting…you can follow people by logging into twitter, and then visiting the profile pages of your favorite people.  My twitter page is http://www.twitter.com/jackSinclair (feel free to follow me!)

Next, try out the twitter platforms, like tweetdeck (my favorite), which let you follow multiple conversations with ease.

Finally, check out some of the uber-cool twitter tools that let you do things like auto-follow folks that follow you, to schedule your tweets (your messages) to appear in the future ( http://www.tweetlater.com )

You can grade the quality of your tweets at the site http://twitter.grader.com (try to get a high score, which means people will read your stuff and follow you).

To get followers, use http://search.twitter.com and find stuff you are interested in, and then respond to people…you’ll show up on many people’s screens, and if you say useful things, you’ll get a ton of followers (be sure to click on “advanced search” to see all the ways to tailor your search).

There’s another site you might like called http://www.mrtweet.net and follow him…then your tweets are monitored, and you’ll get messages from Mr Tweet that suggest people you should communicate with.
